Truancy/Violence Against Teachers Campaign launched

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

truancyHenry & Houston County Schools joined together with the District Attorney’s office to launch a campaign against Truancy and Violence against Teachers. Doug Valeska along with Tim Wilder (Dothan City Superintendent), Tim Pitchford(Houston County Superintendent),  and Lisa Knowles (Henry County Superintendent),  reached out to Durden Outdoor Displays when it came time to put this campaign into action.

Twenty (20) Poster Billboards across Houston & Henry County will be covered with the multiple designs created by the Durden Art Department for this joint campaign. Not only did Durden Outdoor showcase this campaign with their billboards, but they also helped with creating the 25,000 rip cards that were sent home with students to explain the truancy law. These brochures/rip cards include a perforated edge to tear off, requiring a parent or guardian signature to indicate they have read and understood the law. All tear-offs should be returned to the school.

“We just want to send a message. Our number one interest is the children,” Valeska said. “Our job is to work with the children and keep them in school.”

Skip School, Deal with the DA. Truancy is any unexcused absence, tardy or leaving school without permission. A parent or guardian can face criminal charges if the child is not properly attending school. The student can face court-ordered probation, electronic monitoring, curfews and extensive counseling. Truancy complaints can be filed on a student between the ages of 7 and 17 if they have at least seven absences.

Hit a Teacher, Go to Jail. Valeska’s Campaign for Violence against Teachers is posted along with the Truancy Billboards. If you physically punch/hit your teacher or principal you could be subject to jail time.

Durden Outdoor was very happy to help promote this important message to the parents and students of Houston and Henry County. If you have a message you would like to publicize please contact the Sales Department for further information on our outdoor billboards and other media.

ALABAMA Votes, Candidates Use Durden Billboards

Monday, March 12th, 2012

March 13, 2012 is the congressional primary election. Who are you voting for? Eleven running candidates voted for Durden when they decided how to promote their campaign. We had the privilege of doing Eight Rotary Poster designs throughout the area, a bulletin in Dale County, & two digital billboards on our Durden Digital Network, which has 16 locations!

Let’s meet the candidates who voted for us…

Stuart K. Smith is an Ozark Attorney and Republican Candidate for the office of Circuit Judge, Place 1, within the 33rd Judicial Circuit, which serves Dale and Geneva Counties. Mr. Smith helped his campaign by using Durden’s Rotary posters.

For past 6 years, Bill Filmore has been Chief Assistant District Attorney for Dale/Geneva Counties. Filmore handles the prosecution of major felony jury trials (usually sexual assaults and murder). Attorney Filmore also chose to promote his campaign with Durden’s Rotary Posters in Dale & Geneva counties.

Ron Snell believes his qualifications and experiences, especially having taught in every Geneva County school cluster, make him the best candidate to advance all Geneva County schools as the Geneva County Superintendent. Mr. Snell chose to use rotary posters along with his other campaign elements.

Fred Hamic seeks re-election to Geneva County Commission chairman/probate judge. Hamic says that in his first term he helped to get Geneva County on firm financial footing, and that the county currently owes nothing against its $10 million debt limit. He came to Durden for his outdoor advertising of his re-election campaign. Rotary Posters in Geneva County display his artwork created by our Art Department.

Starla Mathews has served the citizens of Houston County as Revenue Commissioner for the past twelve years. It is this experience that leads her to seek the office of probate judge in Houston County, Alabama. Starla chose to promote her campaign on Durden’s Digital Network. Durden has a total of 17 locations when it comes to advertising digitally.

Patrick Davenport believes it is important to have an attorney as Probate Judge. He graduated from UAB with a bachelor’s degree in history and received his law degree from Cumberland School of law at Samford University. Davenport said his opportunity to serve as special probate judge in the absence of Houston County Probate Judge Luke Cooley has given him a unique qualification to hold the office.

Mike Stell’s mission is  to bring Barbour Counties Probate Judge’s office into the 21 Century. Snell wants to stop the long lines and make the office more “Customer Service Friendly.” Mr. Stell is promoting his campaign with Durden’s Rotary Poster in Barbour County.

Steve Blair has operated a law firm for 25 years and served as Coffee County district judge for eight years. He was a 12th Judicial Circuit judge for two years and Enterprise’s municipal judge for the past six years. Mr. Blair is using Durden’s Digital Network in Enterprise to help promote his campaign to be Coffee County Probate Judge.

Sharon Ard Michalic has 26 years working with Dale County. Her work experience began with the Tax Assessor and Tax Collector Offices before transferring to the Probate Office in 1994. She has had the privilege of working for two past probate judges. Now she is running for Probate Judge herself, and utilized Durden’s Rotary Poster to help her attain that spot.

Woodrow (Woody) Hilboldt said his long work history in community-based business and his degree in business administration would be invaluable resources in carrying out the probate judge’s duties, which include maintaining vital public records, protecting public resources, and additional administrative duties associated with the “business” side of the office. He chose Durden to help promote his campaign with our Print Rotary Posters.

Gerald Harden has served the citizens of Dale County politically for over 30 years and wishes to continue to do so. Harden believes he has the experience and the leadership capability in order to continue to make Dale County a better place today and for future generations. He is utilizing Durden’s Print Posters to campaign for his election into the Dale County Commission Chairperson Office.

New Leadership and New Ideas for the Future of Barbour County is Jason Tyre’s 2012 Campaign Slogan. Over the last sixteen years, Jason has worked diligently through the Court System to provide alternative programs for substance abuse offenders to make them more productive citizens. He chose the Eufaula Digital Light House to further his campaign through outdoor media and advertising.

Area businessman and community leader, Mark Blankenship announced his candidacy for Chairman of the Dale County Commission. Blankenship said he wants to put his experience, work ethic, and aggressive leadership to work for Dale County. Blankenship, a licensed residential contractor and developer, currently serves as President pro-tem of the Ozark City Council, serves as a member of the Ozark Technology board, and serves on the CB&T bank board of directors.  Mr. Blankenship chose to promote his campaign with a Durden Bulletin In Dale County.

We thank all of our candidates for supporting us and allowing us to help promote you campaign this election.  With a marketing network of 1000 plus billboard, poster, and full color digital displays — your message was effectively promoted with Durden Outdoor.

Our Durden Creative Team designed the logo & banner you see below. Laura Wildzunas, a Rucker Blvd. Elementary Teacher, and Lori Snell, a Enterprise High School Teacher, have done a great job this year teaching the young minds of Enterprise, Alabama. Enterprise City Schools wanted to congratulate its excellent school system by having their 2012 Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year on the Durden Enterpirse Digital Network.

Rematch of the Century

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

bcs-natl-champ

The AllState BCS National Championship Game on ESPN will be the rematch of the century. The undefeated LSU Tigers face off against No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday night at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This showdown guarantees the SEC a sixth consecutive BCS title.

“We want to have a warrior mentality in how we go about this because it’s going to take a relentless attitude for 60 minutes to win a game like this.” – Nick Saban, Alabama Head Coach

In early November, the Tigers beat the Crimson Tide in a close overtime victory. Turns out Alabama warranted a rematch for the BCS Championship game by holding onto their No. 2 spot. They beat out Oklahoma State, Stanford, and Oregon in the BCS standing to gain the right to challenge LSU for a rematch.  Alabama continues to lead (45-25-5) in this rivalry that dates back to 1895.

“The opportunity to have competitively played yourself into an advantage position where you can play for a bowl championship – we recognize that as the reason why we’re here.” – Les Miles, LSU Head Coach

The last five matchups have been decided by nine or fewer points. With that said, we all know this AL/LSU game will be a great on to watch. If you are not making the long trip to New Orleans, Louisiana from Dothan, Alabama there are plenty of great places to hang out and watch the game.

Hooters of Dothan, located on Ross Clark Circle, has great food and a great view… to watch the game. Right across the street is T.G.I. Fridays, where it’s always Friday. You can enjoy the game with appetizers & drinks inside or outside.

If you are having a small or large tailgate party at home, or a friend’s, you can always stop by one of four Things-n-Wings locations. They have great deals of 25, 50 to 100 NOBO wings…you’ll be the MVP of the tailgate!

Monday January 9th at 8:30 PM ET, Alabama will take another stab at beating LSU and taking home another national title. You don’t want to miss it! And don’t miss Dothan’s great food and social experience  at TGIF, Hooters, and Things-N-Wings.

Who do you think will be FAMOUS, Alabama or LSU?

hillside-family-practiceHillside Family Practice, one of Durden Outdoors more recent clients, has seen a  significant increase in their patient numbers since using a combination of Rotary Poster Billboards along with our Enterprise Digital Network.

“From August to November our numbers have increased. The majority of our new patients say they have seen the billboards with ‘Walk-ins Welcome’ and ‘Tired of waiting?” says Teresa with Hillside Family Practice of Enterprise.

HFP started from the ground up with our Durden Creative Team designing their outdoor look. The art department put in many hours designing not only a campaign but Hillsides Current Logo. Dr. David Ryan was concerned with making sure the Enterprise drivers would know that it was a health clinic, they took walk-ins, and were quick to get you into see them. After many meetings and creative visions an outdoor campaign was settled on.

“Most patients expressed they were tired of waiting to see their doctor somewhere else, and the billboard prompted them to switch to Dr. Ryan,” indicates Teresa

This campaign was a great success for Dr Ryan, Hillside Family Practice, and the Durden Outdoor Team. We pride ourselves in serving our client in the best way possible. We are glad that we can continue with some form of the current message for Dr Ryan since it’s been working.

Hillside is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm (closed for lunch 12-1pm). They accept all insurances except Tricare Prime and Medicaid Patient 1st. You can reach them at 334-475-2067 or visit them on 1008 Boll Weevil Circle Suite B, Enterprise, Alabama.

If you are interested in trying an outdoor campaign with Durden Outdoor please contact us at (334) 792-5056 or sales@durdenoutdoor.com. We would love to being making you FAMOUS with our Digital Network, Bulletin Billboards, & Rotary Posters.

fortis

As a leading Medical career training school in Alabama, Fortis College sought out a way to inform the locals of their programs in Electrical Trades. HVAC- R Trades, Medical Assisting, Medical Office Administration, and Pharmacy Technology.

In 2009, Fortis College began marketing their programs through Durden Outdoor Displays. First, Fortis started using Durden’s four week rotary billboards promoting Medical Assisting and Pharmacy Technician Programs.

“98% of people that come in because of billboards enroll and start. We were highly surprised at this statistic! The dact that we can have several different messages rotate every month is great for us,” says Patrick Donivan, Fortis College School Director.

Since then, Fortis College in Dothan, Alabama has simultaneously used Durdens directional billboards, Durden digital billboard network, and four week rotary billboards. They have seen a significant increase in their enrollment of the following programs:

  • HVAC-R Program
  • Medical Assisting
  • Pharmacy Tech
