Ever Seen a Pink Bug at a Restaurant? We Hope So!

In most cases, a bug and a restaurant do not go together. In fact, while dining out, the last thing that you would want to see is a bug….except when you are at Our Place Diner! Over the years, Our Place Diner has become a Dale County landmark. Located on Hwy 231 in Ozark, AL, the restaurant boasts an actual Volkswagen Beetle (Bug) sticking out of the ground. With oversized portions, a large menu variety and a shrimp po’ boy that won’t wait, you’ll find Our Place Diner overflowing with southern charm. Their friendly staff is always ready and willing to wait on you.

Our Place Diner selected a bulletin just north of their restaurant to encourage people to stop by and to promote their burger that was voted “Bama’s Best Burger 2018”  by the Alabama Cattleman’s Association. They have had such great response from the billboard that they are looking to add an additional billboard just south of the restaurant in the near future.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Sir Bryan’s Pharmacy Is Your Health Defender In Enterprise!

Sometimes to find a something new and fresh you have to look to the past. Bryan Pharmacy was ready for a campaign overhaul after their Award-Winning Ninja Campaign. We knew they wanted something epic, and nothing quite compares to the legendary tales of knights fighting monsters and saving the everyday folk. From this spark of idea came, Sir Bryan the Defender of your Health.   After the initial concept came together and our client gave their support, we were able to expand upon the idea. The knights of old defended the greatest treasures as well, none greater than the legendary Holy Grail, a symbol of purity and an icon of greatness. Bryan Pharmacy is not only a defender but a pinnacle of health care. Also, the imagery of a grail as a mortar and pestle goes hand-in-hand.   After we established the Holy Grail as a major symbol in the campaign we also circled back to the image of knight, valiantly fighting against disease, discomfort, and the high prices and wait times of big chains. We wanted the owner, Brett Bryan, to be introduced as Sir Bryan, with an illustrated portrait of him as the Health Defender. We also found we could include a sword that would stand below the billboard on the billboard’s pole. Another message that Bryan Pharmacy prides themselves in, is their competitive prices against the big chains. To fit the medieval fantasy theme, we placed the big chains as a monster to be slain by your local pharmacy defenders. Altogether, this project was a great exploration of how local businesses can become larger than life and stand strong against the onslaught of big chains and outside influence. Bryan Pharmacy has been in business since 2003, but they continue a tradition of fighting against sickness that has only grown over the centuries. Have you ever opened your web browser only to be bombarded with an instant barrage of ads? Pop-ups, videos, and surveys all fighting for your attention trying to drive traffic to their website. Earl Durden Inducted into Dothan Business Hall of Fame

Feeding the Wiregrass

Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. recently had the opportunity to partner with the Dothan Rescue Mission to help raise awareness of the hunger crisis in the Wiregrass. There is an estimated 500 people in the Wiregrass area without some form of adequate housing, with over 250 of those people residing inside of the city limits of Dothan. The Dothan Rescue Mission is a shelter first formed in 1979, originally started as a men and women’s lodge and a kitchen for the homeless and less fortunate in the city. They offer very successful programs that feed people daily, provide shelter and offer GED and discipleship classes. They also offer computer, job and life skills to help give each individual opportunities that they may otherwise never be afforded. Today, the Dothan Rescue Mission has a 60-bed Men’s Lodge, 25-bed Women’s Lodge and 16-bed Family Lodge along with a chapel and kitchen. A large part of their success is having donors to help make it all come together. Durden Outdoor’s creative team stepped up to plate to help create a campaign encouraging citizens of the Wiregrass to help support and feed the homeless. With three Digital Displays rotating through out the Durden Digital Network, we hope to encourage and grow community support of the Dothan Rescue Mission. The #FamousMakers at Durden Outdoor located in Southeast Alabama have always contended to be professional paraphrasers.  We have a general rule to keep a headline shorter than 7 words as we only have 8-10 seconds to get our point across.  While working on a new 2016-17 creative theme for one of our favorite clients, we achieved this goal…….plus we were able to add one new creative element on a billboard to push it over the top! “A Pleasant Surprise for Enterprise” Beautiful Billboard Promotes Downtown Boutique

serendipitybulletin Serendipity means a pleasant surprise or the luck of finding something you weren’t looking for. Serendipity by Kei Boutique means finding that one piece of clothing you weren’t even looking for, but is just the perfect thing to make your wardrobe. When Serendipity by Kei contacted Durden Outdoor to make them famous, we were beyond ecstatic to help promote their eclectic selection. We started with a conversation with Serendipity by Kei’s owner, Keisha, about her vision for her boutique, as well as their advertising goals. This was a very enlightening and inspiring step, as her energy was highly contagious and got our creative team motivated to design the best board we could. We then started brainstorming and sketching concept art, which we would send over to Keisha to discuss and review; this honed in and refined the message, as well as the design. After the concept was approved, we were able to set up a wonderful photo shoot with our photographer partner Mark Broadway, and Serendipity’s delightful model, Mary Holland. A fashion shoot like this one was great to be a part of, as we were open to have fun and show off all the great items Serendipity by Kei has to offer. Keisha’s passion for her store, her customers, her fashion, and her vision were major inspirations for our design. She worked with us every step of the way, sharing her wisdom about her store and her excitement about our concepts, designs, and final product.
